Christmas With The Beards
First...we went to see Santa at Picture People on Monday and it didn't quite go as well as we were hoping. John was not a fan of Santa. He would either show no expression or he would cry when Santa faced John towards him. So we didn't buy any pictures of Santa, but we did get some naked baby pictures...with a bow on his little toushee...so cute!!! He loved being naked and he just smiled and laughed the whole time, including peeing on me in between pictures.
On Tuesday, we had Christmas with the Beards and it was so much fun! Aunt Sarah and Uncle Andrew got John his first ornament! It is a silver Rudolph. They are planning on getting him an ornament each year, so he will have ornaments to take with him after he has moved out. What a good idea!! They also got him a date for Mom and Dad. They will be coming down to take care of John while Matt and I go out for a movie. What good friends they are! They also got Matt and I fabulous gifts...Seinfield Season 6 and a new Gap Sweater...which I was in desperate need of for the winter months.
John and Sarah playing before opening gifts.
My Own Place At the Table!!
On Tuesday, December 15th, John had his first experience with a high chair. We tried it out before eating by sitting and playing with toys. He instantly loved it! I think he likes it when he finds a little more independence with things. After playing for a few minutes, we started to eat...and oh what fun...a new chair and eating with a spoon..."I am such a big boy!"
I Want My Toes!!!
John has started grabbing his toes and trying to put them in his mouth. It is so cute. He works so hard to grab them and pull them to face. He has also started to pull his socks off...which makes keeping his feet warm close to impossible!

Night Out on the Town and Dedication Day!
This weekend Nana LeAnn came up to stay with us and it was so much fun! On Saturday, we cleaned the house, got ready for Dedication Day for John, went shopping and then had a night out on the town! We took my mom to our favorite Italian place in KC, Osteria, went looking at Christmas lights and then we went to McCormick and Schmicks for a Chocolate Bag....so delicious. If you have never been to any of these places...you need to go! John was so good. He slept all through dinner and looking at lights and then woke up while we were waiting for a table to get dessert. He was in such a good mood and everyone loved them as they walked by.
John got dedicated on Sunday, December 14th, 2008 and it was precious! He was such a serious little man up there. There was a 10 month old next to him that was getting baptized and he was sticking out his tongue and laughing really loud. John would just look at him and it seemed that John was saying, "This is serious stuff! Be serious...why are you acting like that?" It was so funny, I don't think John knew what to think of him! Nana LeAnn, Aunt Wendi, Uncle Kurtis, Luke and Danny all came for the celebration at church. Afterwards everyone came over to have lunch and celebrate this special day!
Okay...so I have tried to upload the pictures of his Dedication but it won't upload for some reason. That is why this is going on the blog site so late....I actually had it finished on the Sunday night that it all happened, but the dumb pictures wouldn't upload...oh well. Maybe they'll be up later on.

A Few Things I Love About John
So tonight while I was getting John ready for bed, I realized there were these little things that make John his own little person and I thought I would share...
1. How he grabs your sleeve or arm when you are trying to change his diaper and he holds on to you for dear life.
2. When he holds on to the collar of my shirt when he is laying in my arms.
3.When he just stares at me at bedtime while I sing him to sleep.
4. How he laughs at my funny faces and even tries to mimic them some times.
5. When he puts both of his lips over his gums and he looks like a little old man.
6. The vein that runs across the top of his head when he gets mad.
7. How he gets so frustrated when he can't reach something.
8. When he sticks out that little tongue of his and smiles with those dimples.
9. How he rubs his eyes when he's getting sleepy.
10. When I lay him down in his bed, cover him up, and his feet go straight in the air to get the covers off.
11. When I go into his bedroom in the morning and he is so happy to see me...he waves his arms and legs and smiles great big!
12. When no one else can calm him down, but as soon as he gets in my arms...he is fine.
Oh...to be a mom of a little boy...I wouldn't trade it for the world.

It's Eatin' Time!!!
So last night John was awake almost every 2 hours and he seemed to be hungry. It would happen after I had bragged on him sleeping through the night! So Matt and I made the decision...we aren't doing this again...let's try cereal to get this boy full. So tonight, after my PTA program, we decided to give it a try. Now, I had always imagined a bowl full of cereal would be thick...nope...I was wrong! It gave us the directions to mix 1 tbsp of cereal with 4-5 tbsp of breast milk. It was just like milk...but we thought "Oh well, lets try it." Well as you can see below John is not a huge fan. He started out okay, but became tired of it pretty quickly. I think more was on him than actually went into his mouth. We ended up putting it in a bottle and he downed it. I think we'll try it a little thicker next time and see how he likes it then.
He has started to hold his own bottle...it is so cute. You can see in pictures below that he's getting pretty good at it.

A Snow Day
Today we had a snow day...it was so great! I got to hang out with my little guy all day long. Matt, myself and John slept until 8:00 a.m., went to breakfast at Neighbors Cafe, visited with people all day and went shopping at Kohls. It was so relaxing. John has started rubbing his eyes when he is getting tired and it is so cute. Before he would just search for his thumb, but now it is adorable to see him rub those tired little eyes. He has really started checking out his voice. He makes the sweetest and funniest noises. He has been sucking in air....it scares me to death because I think he can't breath...but he thinks it is the neatest noise. He just smiles and does it again and again. Silly boy! He has really started smiling at people....anybody that will pay attention to him....which seems to be anyone that is around. Today he got 4 compliments on his cute dimples.
We will be having him dedicated this Sunday and I am so excited about this special event. Look for pictures to come!
Have a fabulous day tomorrow!

Pictures of John!
I know I haven't blogged in forever...and I am sorry. I am going to try to blog every weekend...I am going to make myself! We are doing wonderful...life is never boring. John is 4 months and he weighs 15 lbs 6 oz and is 25 inches long. He is a joy...always smiling and starting to make all kinds of crazy sounds. He just got his 4 month shots and he took them like a champ. He is a curious little boy. Always looking around and he is ready to move....however....his body isn't ready...so he does get frustrated with that! He loves being talked to and he loves looking at books. Matt is doing well. He is keeping busy with his job at the church. I am doing well....looking forward to Christmas break. 2 weeks with my little boy...heaven!!! We had a wonderful Thanksgiving. John got to taste a bite of mashed potatoes and he loved them!
Sarah took our first family photos....they turned out wonderful! She is an amazing artist...so lucky to have her as my best friend!
Do we look like the perfect family or what?
He has started sitting in his play seat...we have to stick a book under his feet because they don't touch the ground quite yet.
Matt and I went to a bed and breakfast about a month ago. It was wonderful and so relaxing. It had the best breakfast I had ever had!! DELICIOUS!
