Fun Times with the Turnbough's

Went to the Lego Exhibit...amazing! How does a man have so much time to build with Legos?

My boy and I at Crown Center.

My curious boy...into everything! He wants to be a part of EVERYTHING!

A new toy...a hose to blow up the exercise ball. John figured out that if he blew into it, it will whistle. I walks around with it all the time.

My big boy sitting at Osteria. He loved that the table sat right under his chin. He would lay his head on it and rub the paper. I love this kid!

John has been back to the sitters this week since school started and let's just say that we have an issue of seperation anxiety. He cries when we leave; however, according to Jewel, he stops pretty quickly. Yet, whenever any adult shows up, he hides behind Jewel's leg like he is scared to death. I just pray that he gets over it soon. It breaks my heart.
Good news...He learned how to unscrew the lid on the lotion bottle. This probably won't be good later on...but I was proud of him. He kept doing it over and over again...so it wasn't just an accident!

Things we did today...

It's the LAST day of summer vacation for me. I am truly excited to go back to work. I am blessed to be a teacher because I get a break and am able to come back refreshed and renewed. I don't think I could make it in the "year round" working world. :)
But I put away all teacher stuff today...and focused on my little one. Here is some of what we did today...
Wrestled on the floor and asked him, "What does a bunny do?" along with other farm animals.

Made faces at each other and he climbed on Mount Mom.

Went to Starbucks with a friend and he did get to taste it...don't worry it was DECAF.
He was indifferent to it.

He learned how to put the balls through this maze all on his own.

He has a weird infatuation with putting baby wipes in his mouth. This is him crawling around with one in his mouth.

Last but not least...he said 2 phrases today! "Thank you" and "Bye Bye DaDa"

I would say it was a perfect last day of summer vacation.

1 Year Pictures

We had Brandon Shultz take John's 1 year pictures. They turned out FABULOUS! I was worried because John was super crabby that day; however, Brandon was like a pro and just kept shooting. He got some awesome shots. If you would like to see them, click on the link below!

Matt's on a Diet...

So the hubby and I used to make chocolate chip cookies in college...it is actually how we started dating. He would invite me over to make cookies. We would end up watching movies and eating the wonderful creation that we had just made. So tonight, after John went to bed, we decided to make some chocolate chip cookies. We had a lot of fun. The funny part about the picture is that Matt doesn't eat raw cookie dough...so it is totally for the picture.

Playdate with Jenna and Madeline

Mommies needed some time to chat...so we made a playdate!
Everyone had fun and we hope for more playdates in the future.

12 Things for 12 Months

Got this idea from another blog...thank you Jenny! Hope you don't mind me copying!
John is 12 months old...so here are 12 things I love about him (there is more but I am going with the theme)

1. I love when he scrunches his nose and looks at me.
2. I love when he is getting ready to do something naughty, he turns and smiles to see if anyone is looking.
3. I love when Matt brings him into our bed in the mornings and we continue to sleep as a family.
4. I love that if Matt or I have food...he thinks he needs it too.
5. I love how he is constantly making truck noises.
6. I love how he loves the outdoors.
7. I love that he loves water/baths.
8. I love how is such a messy eater.
9. I love when he says "Mama" or "Dada" in his special little voice.
10. I love when he gets so excited when he hears his daddy is home.
11. I love when Daddy and him are wrestling on the floor.
12. I love that he is Mr. Independent

I love being his mom. I am so lucky.

I am 1!

14 people came to the big party. It was very exciting. Nana LeAnn and I worked on the silly cake for awhile. We tried to make black icing...which is very difficult. We ended up having bitter tasting icing that stained your fingers and my counter tops! We decided to nix the icing and just stick with good ol' fashioned cake. Below tells the story of the night...

The "wheel" cake! In honor of John LOVING anything with wheels!
John wasn't sure about the cake. He actually just looked at it like, "What am I suppose to do with this?"

He finally ate it when I fed it to him but he still wasn't sure. He enjoyed the homemade icecram much better. Everyone was surprised by his reaction because he seems to like EVERYTHING! I guess he enjoys savory food rather than sweet food???

He loved his new dump truck! He sat in it all night and got mad if you took him out of it! He also loved this card that sang "The Wheels on the Bus" when you opened it. He did the motions and everything. He got lots of wonderful presents and it was so nice to have everyone there. It was a great time that was had by all!

Chillin' and Relaxin' IIn My New Spot

My new favorite spot is on the fireplace. I can see the whole room and watch TV from this spot. I can also climb up and down all by myself. I do get in trouble sometimes because I stand up and try to be even bigger than I am.
