New Things Today

Here are few new things today...
John - learned how to climb up the outside of Nana Barb's staircase today by observing his big cousin Luke. I am very excited about this (if you could hear my voice you would hear the sarcasm in my voice).

The new baby -23 weeks along. He/she is more than 11 in. long and just over a pound in weight. He/She is about the size of a large mango. They can hear music and feel me sway now, so we will be dancing even more now!

Nana Barb's birthday - It is Nana Barb's birthday today and her birthday party was a blast. I had forgotten how much fun it is when everyone is home in Matt's family. We had a table full of laughter and a fun filled game of Pass the Pile. It was followed by some yummy cake made by Abbey. My mother in law is the best mother in law in the world. I consider myself a very lucky daughter in law and wouldn't trade her for anything. Love you Barb.

A Wonderful Birthday Party

My wonderful friend, Katie, did a fabulous job at planning our girl's birthday party. It was so much fun. It was based on different children's books. She had an area set up for Harold and the Purple Crayon, Pinkalicious, Caps for Sale, Little House on the Prairie, and Fancy Nancy. The kids had a blast and so did the adults. We all came dressed up as story book characters. John and Matt were Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn and I was Cat in the Hat.
I must brag on my friend. She is so creative and she had everything planned to a T! Her hard work and many months of planning paid off and we won't ever forget this memorable birthday party!

The Party Planner herself!

To top off the party, she had totes for each child that came to the party with their first initial on it. This was to hold the book that they got in the book exchange. John got a Peekaboo book and loves it!

We're Going to the Zoo....

We had a wonderful day at the K.C. Zoo with the Flax's. John and I had never been to the KC Zoo, so we were excited to go. We sang (or maybe I should say I sang) "We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo. How about you, you, you?" all morning long! We had a great time. There were SO MANY people there but it was still fun! We had a rough start because neither one of the kiddos wanted to get in their strollers, but after that they were perfect angels. They loved the animals and were asleep by the time we walked back to our cars. It was a beautiful and wonderful day!

The New Baby

Just a few details about the new baby....
We have hit the 22 weeks mark! So the baby is the length of a spaghetti squash (11 inches) and it is almost 1 lb! His/her lips, eyebrows and eyelids are becoming more distinct, but the color of the eyes hasn't formed yet. He/She is getting tiny tooth buds in their gums.
I am feeling very good. I get tired but that is just part of being pregnant and running around chasing a 15 month old! The baby is constantly moving. I think he/she moves more than John did at this stage. We haven't decided on names yet, but we are talking about it more. I have a feeling that we won't know until the baby is here.

A few things John did this weekend...

1. While reading one of his farm books, he said ALL of his animal sounds! This never happens, he only says one or two.
2. Babbling like crazy with priceless expressions as he talks. My favorite is when he cracks himself up and he throws his head back with his hands on his belly.
3. Favorite words are "no", "uh oh", and "boom"
4. Played with a baby doll today by putting it in the swing and hugging it.
5. Wants to hear the same story over and over again. Matt and I have animal sounds and "peek a boo" down to a perfection.
6. Went to the zoo
7. Played Frisbee with his Daddy and Danny

These are just a few things. I was too lazy tonight to get the camera and download pictures. Pictures later this week!

Little Problem Solver

Last night we had the Parents As Teachers visit. Our lady, Patty is the sweetest lady in the world. She was giving John the 15 month assessment. John was playing with a toy that she had brought. She then asked him if he would put a block in the bowl (this was part of the assessment). He looked up at her and simply said, "no". It was plain as day! She couldn't help but laugh. Come to find out he was the first 15 month old to say no on the assessment! We are so proud! The next question was if he could say more than Mama and Dada. She already had her answer. The next part was a problem solving assessment. She put cheerios in a small container. She showed John how to put them in and how to get them out by turning the jar upside down. She handed it to John and he put the cheerios in the jar. Then he tried to put his hand in the jar to get them out...this didn't work...so he looked at it for a second. Then instead of turning it upside down, he tipped the jar to his mouth and had the cheerios fall into his mouth! He is a problem solver!! (and an eater!)

Love this kid!

Kid's Eating Habits

Kids are so funny. On certain nights, John will eat anything. On other nights, it is only cheese and crackers, or just an apple, or just yogurt. We fixed lasagna on Sunday night and he didn't want anything to do with it. He would spit it out and say "No, No, No". However, tonight was a leftover night and he couldn't get enough. He was cheering as it cooked in the microwave. When he would be running out, he would grunt and point to the lasagna pan. What a kid!
This is John cheering as the lasagna warmed up in the microwave!

John loves getting in our shower.
I guess it is like a little hiding place for him.
Tonight I caught him "singing" in the shower. (he does this little humming thing)

This was after I caught him and he saw I had a camera.
Too Cute

Ready to get outside and Trick or Treat!

I
Got a little excited and got to close to the window...ouch!!

This boy loves playing outside! I think that if we would stay outside all day long...he would be the happiest boy in the world. He hates to come inside. Yesterday, we had been outside for about 45 min. I had to go the bathroom and Matt was at work...so I had to take John inside. You would have thought that I just took all the toys away. He was so upset. We are talking full out fit!

Pumpkin Carving Time!

John was not a fan of touching the inside of the pumpkin...too slimy.

He couldn't get far enough away from the inside of the pumpkin.

Then he figured out the top was like a puzzle...he really liked that part.

Nana LeAnn

Coach Pop

"I won't touch it, but I will taste it."

"That was not so good..."

"I'll try it again in this bowl...maybe it will taste differently."
"Nope...just as yucky!"
