Gingerbread House

Building a gingerbread house with a 3 year old and a 20 month old is quite the experience. However...it all turned out well! We had a good time. Sophia wasn't too interested except for a couple of pieces of candy. John talked the WHOLE time and ate the candy. At one point I asked him, "John do you think maybe you should take a little break from eating and help me?" He thought about it for a moment and then popped a piece of candy in his mouth and smiled.
But we got the house finished and it looks great.
Elf and popcorn to finish the night..
Absolutely wonderful!

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

The Christmas tree is up. The mantle is decorated. Pandora Christmas music is playing. John is shouting "The tree looks fantastic! Jingle Bells Jingle Bells." Sophia is pulling ornaments of the tree.
It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the Turnbough's house.

My sweet daughter

Sophia, my sweet daughter.
I love this little face....snot nose and all!

Mystery Dinner

The Turnbough family had a Murder Mystery Dinner this weekend. I had never done one of these and I LOVED it. I was Black Barbara, the outlaw, and Matt was Mitch Maverick, a con artist from the East. The whole family, plus some, dressed up for the Wild West show. The food was delicious and my father in law even dressed as a woman since my mother-in-law ended up being sick and couldn't attend. Many memories came from this fun party!

Thanksgiving is HERE!!

My very favorite holiday is here...Thanksgiving!
It was a great day with family, naps, and yummy food.
I am so thankful for my kiddos, my sweet husband, our extended families, my church, Jesus, my wonderful friends, and the life that God has given me.

The kids eating breakfast and very excited. They just Skyped with Nannee, Pops, Scott, Emily and Eli PLUS they are getting ready to go to Nana Barb and Papa's house.

The yummy set up!
Sophia, Luke and John
(Yes Sophia is holding a vitamin bottle.)
"Thanksgiving!!"
Their first wishbone...

The Day Before...

Our first day of Thanksgiving Break...
We slept in, took baths, stayed in our underwear and diapers (well the kids did), and relaxed. It was glorious! We made cute little rice crispy turkeys, that ended up being WAY harder than I thought they would be to make. Instead of the kids and I making them, it was myself and Matt.
John is usually the one that is cheesy for the camera, but Sophia took his place on this day.

Skating Party

My school hosted a skating party tonight and the kids got to try it out. They had a blast and did a pretty good job. Thank you Matt for skating with the kiddos!

Shriner's Circus

The whole Turnbough family (minus Abbey...we missed you) went to the Shriner's Circus on Saturday. It was the best circus I have ever been to. A very nice Shriner, named Joe, got us free tickets, the kids light up toys, and a meal in the Hospitality Room. It was wonderful and so much fun!

Little Momma

Tonight's events in the Turnbough house....

Sophia, who is my little mother hen found a pair of John's underwear. She chased him around the house trying to put the underwear on John.

Oh and for those who might not know...we are dog sitting for 2 weeks for my parents. Some of you are probably shocked but we are doing it. It is little Jake and so far he is a good puppy. My favorite time has been when he cuddled with me during my quiet time this morning. I think he thinks our house is loud and circus-like. The kids love him and he is really good with them.

Never a dull moment!

Baby It's Cold Outside

Well the season has brought rain, cold and early darkness, so we have to enjoy the indoors. Nothing like a double pony ride to keep the kids entertained!

John had his 3 year screening today with the Parents as Teachers. The little guy did an awesome job. The lady was amazed at how John could carry on a conversation about pretty much anything. He ended up getting a 92/100 on the test part, passed his hearing and vision screening test! We are very proud of him! He got tripped up on a few things, but overall was just perfect! He told me a joke tonight...
John: "Hey mom, why do chickens sit on eggs?"
Me: "I don't know."
John: "Because chickens don't have chairs!"

I seriously almost fell off the couch I was laughing so hard. I can't believe my 3 year old just told me a joke that was really funny.

Sweet Sophia has really started to pick up the language now. She is saying all kinds of words like "help", "Where are you?", "Don't know?", "up", "spoon", "drink", "cheese", and the list goes on. She is also really starting to point at all of her body parts and name more family members names. We went through a book tonight called "Baby's First Words". There are pictures and words below them. She was able to tell me what about half the pictures were on her own and the rest she was able to repeat clearly after I said them. She is also really into a certain puzzle, counting to 3, and giving knuckles. She gets excited when I am able to understand the words she is saying and cheers for me when I get it correct.

Life is good on the Turnbough home front. For those that don't know, I have passed my principal's test...so I guess I am official! This was one of the hardest tests I have ever taken in my life. And not to brag...I rocked it. My score was 187/200. I had to get at least a 164. I am so glad it is over with and I won't have to take it again.

Matt is diligently working hard at church. The holidays are approaching so it is about to get crazy! He is also helping out with the house that was bought downtown beside the Hope Center. The hope is to redo it and turn it into a retreat area where interns can stay or people can go down to stay to help out downtown or have some solitude time. We are excited to see what opportunities it will bring.

Have a great night and thanks for reading!
