John's 1st

Matt is back from China just in time for John's 1st Halloween. He is quite the cute little tiger...however...he did not appreciate the whiskers as much as I did! He's up to 14 lbs...he is good eater! John loves not having clothes on and he is starting to rock back and forth...he'll be rolling soon!

Shots and Sickness

Holy Moly...what a week. So this past week was a whirl wind. On Sunday, I started feeling really sick to my stomach and I felt like I wanted to throw up with I would feed John. I woke up feeling terrible on Monday, so I stayed home and went to the doctor. I found out that my hemoglobin levels and iron levels were really low. Pretty much I had been giving all of my nutrients to John and leaving nothing for me! So the doctor put me on a bunch of supplements, fiber powder and vitamins. I feel like an old lady each morning because I have to mix fiber powder in with my juice and take a bunch of pills. Seriously...I thought about getting a pill box...you know the ones that have the days of the week on them because I have so many! On that same day, John went to the doctor for his 2 month check up. Oh yes...my sweet boy came in weighing 12 lbs 6 oz! He is 24 inches long and seems to just be a happy spitter. (the child is like a fountain he spits up so much) He also got his shots...one done orally, which he loved, and 3 in his leg, which he hated! It was terrible watching him get his shots. I just stood in the corner with tears in my eyes. Matt stood with him. John looked so sad...it was like his eyes were saying, "why are you letting them do this to me???!!!" TERRIBLE!

Tuesday, I tried to go to school but I looked like a drug addict...red/bloodshot eyes and I was completely white (pale). I came home early and slept all day, except to nurse. Let me tell you that being sick and being a mom is so HARD, especially with a 2 month old. They don't seem to understand, "Mom is sick...she needs the day off." There is no day off!

But all is well now. I am feeling so much better and John's little legs don't hurt any longer. Matt and I went on a date tonight and Andrew and Sarah watched the boy. We went to Bentons and had a great evening. It was lovely! I would recommend Bentons to anyone!! DELICIOUS!

Okay...well I am off to bed.

SO Sorry!!!

So I just realized that I had not put the pictures that Sarah Beard took of John on my blog. I am terrible because they are so good! I am so lucky to have such a talented best friend!

Going on 7 weeks

It is incredible to think that John will be 7 weeks on Monday. The time has passed by so quickly. He is changing so much. It seems like everyday something changes. He is smiling, giggling/gurgling, reacting to his mom and dad's voices, grabs onto your fingers and tries to pull up, pushes up with his legs when you stand him up, scoots when he is having tummy time, and lifting his head all the time. He is an alert little boy and loves to look around. He loves sleeping on his mom and dad's chest. We have a hard time putting him in his bed at bedtime.

I started back to work full time this last week. It was exhausting, but I know it will get easier with time. I have to say that it makes my time with John even more special. It makes me feel good to know that he wants me when I arrive at the sitter's house. He starts smiling and is just so content in my arms. My class is good and I am really enjoying 5th grade. I am learning what it means to get to your job, do your job and get home to your family. That is a hard concept for a teacher because there is always something to do.

Matt is still working at Lakeland and things are going well with it. He gets a lot of compliments about how well he is doing his job. He is a hard worker and really takes care of the building. He is getting ready to leave for China is less than a month. He will be gone for 16 days!!!! So John and I will be missing Daddy for more than 2 weeks. He is really excited about the trip. There is only 5 people going and they are going to be teaching English while they are over there. They are meeting up with Jack, our translator, and some of the other coworkers. It should be an awesome trip.

Hope you enjoy the pictures!
